02.10.09 Blog UPDATE FROM ANDREW
"It's been a busy week!
Sheffield was definitely a nervous meeting for me, being my
first one back and I probably showed that in my 1st race when I
touched the tapes then crashed out after coming off 15 metres!
It got better and I enjoyed winning my next 2 races before
having a hard race with Millsy (Chris Mills) in my fourth. It
was a good hard race between us but going into the first bend he
caught my handlebars and straightened me and I ended up on the
deck! Not to worry, we had a good win there and I was glad to be
back!
Friday was still pretty nerve racking for me, being my home come
back and all. I was a bit more tentative than usual around
Armadale and probably got in Matty's way in a few of our races,
but i was happy to get through both meetings with 7 and paid 10.
Also the 2 wins put us in with a very good chance of grabbing
second place in the league, which we now are so happy days!
Onto Saturday and we were away to Rye House in the second leg of
the cup. Over the past couple of seasons I have managed to get
decent double-figure scores around there so was looking forward
to the meeting! It's the same story around there where you have
to make the gate as it is extremely difficult to pass the home
riders, especially with the track being friggin' slick this time
around! I managed to make a few gates and came away with
double figures, and we're into the KO cup final!
A week later and we have the two legs of the Premier Trophy
against the top team in the Premier League this year!
The home meeting was good for myself, going on to be unbeaten
after destroying the tapes in my first ride. But I feel we were
extremely unlucky not to have a much bigger lead than 13 as I
thought we were the much better side! A few bits of bad luck and
a meeting changing moment and that was that!
This was always going to be a difficult second leg. I struggled
earlier in the year around Kings Lynn, with it being so slick
you needed to gate! This time round the track had quite a bit of
grip on it, but you still needed to gate! I had some back pain
at the start of the meeting but didn't think too much of it
until I started to ride. It spread into my neck, shoulders and
chest and I ended up having a few breathing problems, which on a
fast, grippy track was hard work as you have to battle more with
the bike! Anywho, I felt my bike set-up was good and quick but
when behind riders I felt as though I was going to run into
them, generally getting more frustrated with wobbling about
behind people. I finally made a gate in my last ride (too late
by this time, of course!) and I got the clear space I needed to
wind the throttle on full and go for it, getting the win!
I spoke to Matty after and I think we both had the same problem
where we need to get the breathing room to go quick and we were
both gating like snails basically!
All being too late. The Premier Trophy is down there, and
I feel given a re-match, we would take it (roll on the KO cup
final, presuming they make it!)
So that's the last couple of weeks, and sorry for not updating
sooner!
Now to go take our frustration out on the Tigers tonight!
;) "

17.09.09 UPDATE FROM ANDREW
"After 6 weeks I'm finally fit
enough to get back racing!
The last 7 days have been all about checking that i was fit
enough to be racing!
Starting last Thursday morning where i had a quick ride on my
pit bike (and by quick. i mean quick as i got a puncture after
about 5 minutes). Anyway that still felt fine.
Then Friday morning i had a skid on the beach, courtesy of 'uno
bendo' and his beach blaster! Again, fine and. by this time. i
was about 98% sure i was gonna be fine but a few laps on a track
were needed to make sure!
So then it was on to Sunday, where i got my few laps on the
track, with thanks to the Stoke promotion for allowing me to do
so!
I did have trouble with my bike at Stoke before i got my laps
out the way, which turned out to be an electrical fault. It is
now fixed properly, although that fault was also the cause for
my bike breaking down in my 1st race crash at Wolves 6 weeks
ago! Amazing how little things go unnoticed and cause so much
trouble!
Anywho, all that done i was 100% certain i was fit and ready to
race. This just left an appointment at the fracture clinic
yesterday (Wednesday) to attend, where i was in and out in 5
minutes flat!!
So I'm all good to go 'get it lit' and looking forward to
Sheffield and a nice easy few days to break me back in!!! "

19.08.09 Blog A FEW WORDS
"Since I'm 'snapped' I've got some
time to give a little update.
Has been 2 weeks since I first went to hospital and was told I'd
fractured my pelvis!
I am trying to speed up the healing process by having some laser
treatment and had the 1st session of this yesterday. I will be
going again for another session on Friday morning (21st).
I went to the fracture clinic today for a check up and the
fracture is healing so it's just a case of waiting and resting!
Not much else I can do except watch, frustratingly, from the
stands at the track!
With a bit of luck I won't be off the bike for too long and I
can get a good bit of racing in before the end of the season!"

03.08.09 News ANDREW OUT WITH A BROKEN
PELVIS
Andrew Tully visited hospital today
and received the shock news that he has broken his pelvis, which
almost certainly brings his season to an end.
The crashes at Armadale on 24th July and at Wolverhampton on
Monday have both probably contributed to the injury. Andrew
walked in to hospital today which amazed the medical staff, who
thought he had done the impossible!
He is now on crutches and has been quoted a 12-week recovery
period. He hopes to shorten that but realistically there will be
nothing of the season left.
It is a major blow to a rider who in his last completed meeting
smashed the track record in a match-winning display at Newport.
He said “I’m gutted – I wanted to be part of us stealing King’s
Lynn’s thunder!
“Every injury seems to make me stronger so here’s hoping!”

TULLY
IN AT EASTBOURNE
Panthers no 8 Andrew Tully rides at
Eastbourne tomorrow, as the BSPA have refused to give
Peterborough a facility for the missing Karol Zabik who quit the
Panthers this week.
Andrew will have a long journey tomorrow as he is riding for
Edinburgh this evening, but he is fully committed to the
Panthers cause and immediately jumped at the chance to ride for
Peterborough despite the travel involved.

News ANDREW MOVES TO THE NO.8 BERTH FOR PETERBOROUGH
The Complin/Tully doubling up
partnership makes way for the return of Claus Vissing in the
Panthers team
"Andrew Tully loses his doubling up
position at reserve but he has agreed to become the teams
official no 8 ...."
"Claus will now replace the doubling up
riders Lee Complin and Andrew Tully; Kenneth Hansen will indeed
stay with us for the remainder of the season. We have signed
Andrew Tully as the clubs number eight rider. He has showed a
great desire and above all excellent attitude during the first
few weeks of the season and we feel it would be very unfair to
not offer him the number eight berth at the very least”.

News TULLY GETS THE NOD OVER COMPLIN
ANDREW Tully has been called up for his first competitive
appearance for Panthers.
The 21
year-old will replace fellow doubling-up rider Lee Complin when
the city side host Ipswich on Thursday.
Team manager Trevor Swales said: "I have to admit that Lee has
done a little less than we expected and we have chosen to give
Andrew a shot in this meeting.
"Andrew did really well when he rode in the main body of the
team against the Danish Select side in our first meeting and as
long as I get 100 per-cent effort from him I will be happy.
"We take it meeting-by-meeting and that's the fairest way to do
it."
